Tobruk, Benghazi, Tripoli |

Fly into Tripoli once the Italian capital of North Africa. Then on to Tobruk, drive out to Sidi Rezegh scene of the “Crusader” battles of November 1941 and to the end of the Gazala Line at Bir Hakim, the desert stronghold garrisoned by, as one Afrika Korps General said “Pirates and Smugglers from twenty different nations”. Onto Ras el Madauer site of the Afrika Korps salient into the Australian lines and tour the perimeter defences. Tour Tobruk itself, visit the CWGC war cemeteries. See the “Rommel Haus” made famous in the 1941 “Raid on Rommel” or “Keyes Raid”. Onto Benghazi to see the grave of Colonel Keyes VC. And much more. |

| Day 1 | Midday flight from London to Tripoli before flying onto Benghazi, landing at the same airfield that was used by the German Luftwaffe. Overnight in Benghazi. (D) |

| Day 2 | Drive to Tobruk via Regima Ridge to Mechilli where the 3rd Indian Motor Brigade held up the advancing Afrika Korps in 1941 allowing British and Commonwealth troops to reach Tobruk. Check into our hotel for three nights. (B>L>D) |

| Day 3 | Early start as we take 4 wheel drive vehicles through the minefields to Sidi
Rezegh airfield, the site of the Crusader battles of November 1941, and where
Jock Campbell, George Gunn and John Beeley all won Victoria Crosses, then
onto Bir Hakim site of that heroic stand made by the Foreign Legion and where
we shall have a picnic lunch, returning to Tobruk via Ras el Madauer site of the
Afrika Korps salient into the Tobruk perimeter.

| Day 4 | Today we visit Tobruk and Knightsbridge War Cemeteries, the Fig Tree hospital and the Indian desert mosque built by Indian troops in 1941, then we have lunch overlooking the harbour before visiting the war museum, the famous Hotel Tobruk and other well known sites in Tobruk (B>L>D) |

| Day 5 | Follow coast road back towards Sousa and Benghazi via the “White House” the famous German field hospital and the equally well known Derna Pass. Visit to the ancient city of Appollonia. We stay overnight in Sousa. (B>L>D) |

| Day 6 | This morning we make our way back to Benghazi via the ancient city of Cyrene
and the Temple of Zeus. Through the Wadi el Kuf to Beda Littoria where we
will visit the site of the famous “Raid on Rommel” HQ building. On arrival at
Benghazi we will visit Benghazi war cemetery, before our return flight to
Tripoli. Overnight in Tripoli.
