No sooner had the 8th Army achieved their great victory at El Alamein in November 1942, the British 1st Army landed in North Africa. Their initial successes surprised everyone, which brought them almost to Tunis. However, the Germans fought desperately to hold and then throw back the advancing 1st Army. The introduction of the dreaded Tiger tank for the first and only time in North Africa and thousands of troops showed how desperate the Germans were to hold onto Tunisia. Follow in the footsteps of the 1st Army as they fought at such places as Two Tree Hill, Longstop, Sidi Nsir, Medjez el Bab, Cactus Farm, Banana Ridge and Steamroller Farm and onto Tunis itself. We shall also stand on the very sites where seven Victoria Cross actions took place.
